From 1st January 2023, we are going to have to change the way that we manage and recharge the domains managed on your behalf.
In the past, many clients have considered that we “own” the domain as we were purchasing it on your behalf. However, this is not true, and never was. Your business owns the domain, and it can be transferred away from us at any time and can be managed by yourselves if you so wish.
However, some older clients have taken advantage of having an inclusive option where we have “owned” and managed and renewed the domain names on their behalf. The problem with this arrangement is that even though the domain might be in our domain control panel, the domain registrar will still consider ownership of the domain as your e-commerce business not ours.
This means any domains managed by us will need have their domains renewed by the registrar, and any costs will need to be passed on based on the ending of the domain name, ie .com or .ie etc. They will still remain in our domain control panel for management purposes, but, we can no longer consider them “owned” and managed, just simply managed.
I hope this clears up any confusion over ownership.
